And Sew it Begins

I traced the Cashmerette Uptown bodice! I'd written Founder Jenny Rushmore when I purchased the pattern ages ago because the sizing was baffling to me. Unfortunately Cashmerette is made for the opposite of my body type. Ugh. Well at least I wouldn't have to do an FBA. (I hope.) For the bodice, she suggested I start with a 20 C/D and grade to a 20 at the waist. I traced, taped and pinned the darts.

I got ready to pin the pieces together.  Ummm, I couldn't pin wrong sidess to wrong sides. These pattern pieces run in the same direction. See how the side seams for the front and back pieces are both on the left?

It was close to bedtime, so maybe it was just me. Nope. I had bodice pieces from other patterns handy. So I guess Jenny isn't into tissue fitting. (Update: I think I figured out. Do the pieces run in the same direction because of the single-layer layout?)

End of the world? Not at all. I just didn't feel like unpinning and tracing the markings on the other side of one of the pieces that night. I also noticed this pattern doesn't have matching notches. There's a notch on the back side seam, but not the front. It's the opposite at the shouders. Maybe the notches align with the dart seam on the corresponding piece. Haven't read the sewing instructions yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it.
